Siphilisiwe skills transfer initiative

At Jockey, we believe true empowerment comes through knowledge sharing and skill-building. We were honoured to support the Siphilisiwe Foundation and its affiliate organisations through a hands-on skills transfer programme, that started on the 6th of August and ends the 29th August 2024.

The programme involved 12 participants from different organisations, who gained experience in various skill sets from garment construction to fabric laying. Participants rotated through various roles, learning skills such as joining panels, attaching gussets, garment costing, and quality auditing.

This initiative wasn't just about teaching technical skills, it was about passing on this wealth of knowledge back to their respective organisations in order to create an impact that extends well beyond the factory floor. Through this initiative, we are investing in the future of these women-led organisations, equipping them with the tools needed to uplift both themselves and their communities. In recognition of their dedication throughout the programme, each participant received a certificate as a symbolism of their hard work.

As we look ahead, we know that the skills will help shape a more empowered tomorrow.
